Thank you so much to all that have chipped in to help us have a successful swim season.  But we're not done yet.  JSL requires that each team chips in & volunteers for the Championship (CHAMPS) Swim meet next week; Friday 7/24 & Saturday7/25.  We need all spots filled by tomorrow night.  There are 4 Sessions, divided up by age groups.  Positions that are unfilled, late arriving or early leaving can result in 25 point penalty per occurrence.  All Champs volunteers are given a parking pass for the session they sign up for to the parking lot in front of the Brooks YMCA.  Click on the Event to sign up for jobs.   Details>>  CHAMPS - Volunteer Info

Swim Team Board [POGA (Parents of the Gators Association)]:  We currently have 7 Board Members.  There are supposed to be 11.  The board has meetings as needed to make all the arrangements to run the swim team; fundraising, meet organization, etc.  which is usually a few times at practice in the summer & a few times in the off season (zoom) to get ready for the summer or for any situations that require convening.  It's not a large time commitment at all.  Please reach out for more information.  We have a meeting tonight @7:45pm.  Feel free to jump in if interested.  Call any of us for questions.

Looking ahead:  All swim meets are run by volunteers (with the exception of coaches & referees).  A LOT of us who volunteer at each meet will be aging out soon.  Many are members of the same family & work the entire meet every meet.  We have 1, maybe 2 years AT MOST.  But it's very possible this may have been the last year for any/some of the following positions:

• Computer Operator* (need 2)
• Meet Director*
• Stroke & Turn Judges*
• Table workers

*Job MUST attend an in-person training held by JSL prior to season start.  Usually held during May & first week in June.  

For those with younger swimmers, you may want to start perusing through these positions because once we're gone, the meets definitely won't run themselves.  Take advantage of us while we're still here.  We'd love to answer any questions or concerns you have.  >> Job Descriptions/Training

FUNDRAISING:  Turn in your $$ asap.  Venmo is @POGA_LG.  Every family is expected to raise $125 for each swimmer.  At the start of the season, getting a sponsorship, Scentsy, the pay the day Calendar & Swim-a-thon in order to raise that $125 or simply writing a check to POGA.  We fundraise to keep our registrations down even though lifeguard wages, pool rental, equipment replacement and JSL dues per swimmer all increase each year.  If your swimmer has opted to do the swim-a-thon, we will be able to have them swim in the mornings.  Just let Debra know & she will coordinate with the coaches.
