Tonight’s Meet – Fork Union Military Academy

Arrive by 5:00, warm-ups at 5:10. Limited locker room space so please come dressed to swim. See attached FUMA PDF for specific information and address.

Warm-Ups

• FAST: 4:50–5:10 PM
• Louisa: 5:10–5:30 PM
• Gordonsville: 5:30–5:50 PM

The meet will begin at 6:00 PM immediately following the National Anthem.

Meet Format

• FUMA is an 8-lane indoor pool.
• We will be running the meet in lanes 2–7 as a 6-lane meet.
• During each team's warm-up period, the entire pool will be available for use.
• There will be a 5-minute break following the breaststroke events to swap first-half and second-half volunteers. The pool will not be open to swimmers during this break.

Volunteer Needs (per team)

• 1 Clerk of Course worker per half
• 1 Runner per half
• 1 Table worker per half (sorting, checking, and awards)
• 6 Timers per half
• 1 Sweep Judge per half
• 2 Stroke & Turn officials per half

FAST will provide all of the above positions as well as the starter, computer operator, head timer, front door marshal, parking marshal, heat winner hander outer, refreshment worker, and an additional sweep judge.

PhotographersEach team may have one photographer on deck (optional). Please ensure photographers do not take pictures from behind the starting blocks.

Entries & Heat SheetsPlease review your team's entries and the attached heat sheets for any errors as soon as possible and let me know if you find anything that needs correction.

I had to seed the meet manually to have it be swum in lanes 2-7 so I am asking that heat sheets not be shared with families until tomorrow morning so that all coaches have an opportunity to review them first.

FUMA Facility InformationThe pool is located on the Fork Union Military Academy – at the Estes Aquatic Facility. FUMA is on Route 15 South of Zion Crossroads..in the town of Fork Union. When approaching the facility you will see the main gate – DO NOT TURN HERE. Continue to the next road Petit-Foster and turn left onto the grounds. You will pass by dormitories on your right and various buildings on the left. You will turn left onto the driveway at the Estes Aquatic sign…bear right towards the brick building. You can park in the lot to the left of the building by the gym or if that is full, there is a field located across from the driveway to the Estes Aquatic center. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE GRASS anywhere (unless you are in the field.) There is a parking lot around back which enters at the pool level but it is very small and will be reserved for meet officials and the food truck.

The pool is located on the first floor of the brick building, spectators will enter via the front doors – there are bleachers in there, but you will probably need to bring a few chairs just in case. To access the pool level and back parking lot you will need to go down the steps located at the left side of the spectator area. No spectators are allowed on deck unless working the meet. If you need to meet with your swimmer they may come to the small lobby outside the pool deck – they cannot go upstairs between events. Despite being an indoor pool, anticipate it being VERY hot.

Please distribute the attached Fork Union facility information PDF to all families and ask them to read it before arriving at the meet. It contains important information regarding parking, team areas, facility rules, and campus policies. (ATTACHED)

ConcessionsThere will be a food truck called Tinsley’s at the meet with lots of food, drinks, and snacks. The truck will be located in the back parking lot at the pool level.
