Louisa Gators Weekly Update
Happy Memorial Day Gators!
It is hard to believe we begin practice tomorrow morning! Based on the forecast, it should be warm enough to get into the water. As in years past, we will swim in the rain if the air temperature isn’t too low. I will make decisions one hour to practice beginning if I decide to cancel. Messages will come via the SwimTopia website, I am sending out a test group text at 6:00 PM tonight so be on the lookout! If you do not get a text, check your email. How you receive notifications will depend on whether you have the mobile app and/or what notifications you have chosen. Schedule Note – the swim team does not necessarily follow the LCPRT pool schedule as they often close for low attendance or storms throughout the summer.
Be sure to bring warm clothes for after practice! Hopefully you have a designated swim bag which includes: suit, swim cap, goggles, water bottle, 2 towels, sweatpants, hoodie and underwear. You should also bring a snack for after practice…swimmers will be hungry and the concession is not open during our practice times. Make sure everything you bring is labeled with your name…chances are you will leave something at some point during the summer!
Basic practice rules:
Report to designated area for stretching before your practice begins. Swimmers should not get into the pool until Coaches say it is time. Swimmers should slide into the pool, no jumping – to avoid other swimmers in the lane. If swimmers need to go to the bathroom, they should let a coach know before getting out of the pool. All swimmers and siblings are required to remain inside the fence at all times. They must be accompanied by an adult to go to the parking lot, park, cars etc. Please remember…the road that goes between the pool and the picnic shelter is an actual road now, cars do not pay attention to people walking across and are usually driving at least 15-20 mph. Upon arrival at the pool, swimmers should sign in at the notebook on the front counter and check their family folder. All vacations and camps should be posted in the notebook under the Vacation tab – this will eliminate your swimmer being placed in a meet while on vacation. We will also have a list of t-shirts ordered – please check to make sure you have listed the correct size for your swimmer and any family shirts ordered. Last day to order family shirts will be Saturday, May 30, we are hoping to have them in time for our first meet!
I am attaching the practice schedule, sponsor forms (get your forms in quickly to insure they are listed on the t-shirts & banners) . Let’s get excited about the season…just remember that the first few days (weeks) of practice are usually chaotic but things will eventually smooth out. Bring your smiles and patience as we get everyone sorted into the right groups. Hope to see you all at the pool tomorrow!
Coach Debra
